Tamarind Juice

Enjoy a refreshing homemade tamarind juice made with sweet tamarind, fresh ginger, and lime. This easy recipe delivers a naturally tangy, flavorful drink with simple ingredients, making it a delicious choice for any occasion.

 

Ingredients

  • 1 pound sweet tamarind pods deshelled

  • 1 inch fresh ginger chopped

  • 4 cups boiling hot water

  • 4 cups cold water

  • 1 medium lime juiced

  • Honey (optional)

 

Instructions

In a deep glass bowl, place the sweet tamarind pods, chopped ginger, and boiling water.

Stir to ensure all the tamarind pods are entirely submerged in water. It is natural for the ginger to float.

Using a spoon or whisk, to whip the tamarind mixture from the bottom up to release any seeds.

Place a strainer over a clean pitcher and use the strainer, a spoon or your hand to separate the seeds from the tamarind pulp fully.

Pour 4 cups of chilled water into the pitcher and onto the tamarind pulp, along with the juice of one lime and honey. Stir until all is dissolved.

Chill and Serve. It is natural for the drink to separate.
