Relational Justice

“How would you feel if we could talk without criticism, listen without judgement, and connect and build at the intersection of differences?”
— Sonali Sadequee

Welcome to Relational Justice

Relational Justice is a relational framework that recognizes the inherent power dynamics that are always at play in all relationships and thus, offers skillful, trauma-informed communication practices to help decolonize each other, offer emotional healing from the impact of trauma in real-time, and level the playing field in the service of creating relational and collective liberation.

Relational Justice is about relational holding, relational healing, & relational liberation.
— Sonali Sadequee

Relational Justice framework has a few emerging dimensions:

We have to decolonize and debrahmanising our lives and relationships so that we can be in equitable relationship with ourselves, each other, and our planet.
— Sonali Sadequee
  1. One dimension is that it requires us to get very clear about our identities of marginalization and privilege in real-time

  2. Another dimension is that it requires us to support relational decolonization

  3. Another dimension is that it requires us to accept Conflict as growth waiting to happen

  4. Final dimension is relational accountability

Relational justice is a dialogical practice:

Dialogical practices are a set of communication skills that have a way of settling the human nervous system, creating psychological safety, and enhancing our ability to deeply connect with one another, so that trust, healing, and transformation can take place. Courage and humility inherently is built into this dialogical practice.

the art of embodying just relationships. a dialogical embodiment.

One-on-one Coaching

How you speak and how you listen has the power to heal or harm, in real-time.
— Sonali Sadequee

Since it’s no longer enough to simply hold a mental, emotional, and theoretical attitude against racism in America, we best to learn how to update and upgrade the quality of our presence and how we show up in relationships in these changing times. Current times call us to embody anti-racism in every moment and in every relationship, especially as people with skin privilege.

This work is ultimately about decolonzing our relationships and it is something we all can participate in because this is relational work that happens at the micro level. This work begins with becoming more aware of our unconscious/implicit thoughts, feelings, attitudes, decisions, choices, and actions.

Knowing where to begin, what to change, and how to embody anti-racism relationally can feel confusing, daunting, and/or overwhelming. A lot of us have never dealt with these issues and therefore, it may be a new growing edge. Some of us feel lost or stuck in confusion, shame, guilt, judgement, etc.

Whatever the situation is for you, know that it’s completely ok to not know where to begin this transformative work. So, if you are ready to decolonize your relationships, transform your implicit biases, work on your privileges, then I welcome you into my Relational Justice Coaching sessions.

My coaching sessions involve but not limited to:

  • how to show up as a safe skin privileged person in relationship with Black, Indigenous, and people of color in the world

  • an initial assessment to identify your specific biases that are ready to transform, free of judgement

  • coaching to transform the unconscious bias into conscious action and helpful practices

  • coaching to know how to effectively handle a situation when biases get in the way without getting caught up in shame/guilt/overwhelm/confusion/paralysis/shutdown/etc.

  • Marcro level work: Education on anti-racism and systemic oppression and clarify your unique role in the macro level
